Honest Questions
Direct answers to the honest questions people actually ask about God, the Bible, and Jesus.
- Does God really exist?
Yes - and He has made Himself known: in what He made, in His kindness, and in person, in Jesus Christ.
- Why does God allow suffering?
Jesus wept at a friend's grave. The Bible speaks honestly about suffering, shows you His compassion, and promises His people a future without death or pain.
- Isn't the Bible just a book written by men?
Yes, men wrote it - and holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. Here is what the Bible says of itself, what it is for, and how it invites you to test it.
- Is Jesus really the only way to God?
Yes. There is one mediator between God and men, who gave Himself a ransom for all - and He receives everyone who comes to Him.
- What happens after death?Coming soon
What the Bible actually says, without the caricatures.
- I've done too much wrong — can I still come to God?Coming soon
For readers who assume the answer is no.
- How can I know that I am saved?Coming soon
Where the assurance of salvation actually rests, and where it does not.
- What should I do after believing in Jesus?Coming soon
The first concrete steps for a new believer, and why none of them is optional.
- If God exists, why can't I see Him?
Because He is a Spirit, and no sinner could bear the sight of Him - yet He made Himself visible in Jesus, and those who trust Him will see His face.
- Why does God seem silent?
God has spoken, and He is not far. Why a particular prayer seems unanswered the Bible does not always say - but it tells you whom you are asking, and invites you to come.
- Why is there so much evil in the world?
Evil comes out of the human heart in rebellion against God. He sees every wrong done, has fixed a day to judge it, and has come to change the hearts it comes from.
- Has science made belief in God unnecessary?
Understanding how the natural world works does not, by itself, establish that it has no Creator.
- Did Jesus Christ create the world, or did it happen by itself?
Jesus Christ created all things, and Scripture presents creation as history rather than myth.
- Does my life have a purpose?
You were created by Jesus Christ and for Him, and no purpose invented apart from Him will hold.
- Can I actually know God personally?
Yes - through Jesus Christ, and by no other way.
- How do we know the Bible has not been changed?
God has preserved His words, and the manuscript record shows no wholesale alteration.
- Does the Bible contradict itself?
Scripture does not contradict itself; the alleged contradictions resolve on examination of wording, context and purpose.
- Why should I trust such an ancient book?
Age neither proves nor disproves a book; the question is whether God spoke in it.
- Has science disproved the Bible?
Science has not disproved the Bible; the conflicts alleged are between Scripture and particular interpretations of evidence, not between Scripture and anything observed.
- What about the difficult and violent parts of the Old Testament?
God's judgments are the acts of a holy Judge upon real wickedness, not arbitrary cruelty, and Scripture flatters no one in recording them.
- Doesn't the Bible support slavery?
Not in the sense modern readers mean by the word. Scripture regulates a mostly voluntary system of indentured service and condemns man-stealing outright.
- Is the Bible against women?
Not at all. The Bible commands husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church, and gave His life for her.
